2 convicted of rape, murder executed

Two men sentenced to death for murder and rape girls were hanged at Jashore Central Jail.

They were Mintu and alias Kalu along with Azizul who were both from Rayalakshipur village in the Chuadanga's Alamdanga upazila. The bodies of the two were handed over at the funeral of their relatives.

The executions were executed at 11:45pm Monday the prison official Tuhin Kanti Khan later told reporters that evening.

He stated that representatives of Jashore deputy commissioner, the superintendent of police and civil surgeons Jashore deputy commissioner as well as the police superintendent Civil surgeons, doctors and civil surgeons were present at the time that Kalu and Aziz were hanged.

Before the execution of their death sentence, they both visited their families to fulfill their final wishes. The health of the two was a good condition, he stated.

On the 26th of September 2003 the case was registered by the Alamdanga Police Station against four persons, including two accused of the murders and rapes of two girls of Jorgachha village in Alamdanga.

One of them passed away in the course of trial and another was found not guilty in the trial.
